NBA Season Preview
The 2012-2013 NBA season tips off tonight. It is nice to have the season start on time this year after a season shortened by a lockout that saw too many games jammed into a short amount of time, which hurt the quality of basketball being played. I personally have always preferred college basketball over the NBA, but this season I find myself very intrigued by the upcoming season. Here are my power rankings heading into the season.

Eastern Conference
1.Heat- I think we will see the best Lebron yet now that he has the pressure lifted off his back by winning a championship. Added a few free agents including veteran Ray Allen.
2. BROOKLYN Nets- that’s right basketball is back in Brooklyn. Management has assemble a team that can most definitely make a run at the Heat with Deron Williams running the point.
3.76ers- have a strong core returning from playoff run last year. Acquired Andrew Bynum which solidifies their line up if he can stay healthy.
4.Bulls- this team will live or die with the health of Derrick Rose, if they can maintain until he is healthy watch out.
5. Celtics- Lost Ray Allen to the Heat and added Jason Terry. Their window may have closed last season but they will find a way to be around the leaders in the East

Break out team-
Indiana Pacers who played the Heat tough in the playoffs last year. A team that might fly under the radar but make a statement in playoffs.

Irrelevant teams-
Raptors- I challenge anyone to name their starting 5
Magic- traded the only thing they had going for them Dwight Howard. New coach and new gm.

Western Conference
1. Thunder- strong core of young players. Did trade away a huge piece in Harden but they are still talented enough to win the west. Look for Ibaka to have a huge year.

2. Lakers- acquired Antwain Jamison, Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. Put them in a line up with Kobe who is determined to win an other title before his career is over and it’s a dangerous team. See how quickly team chemistry develops here.
3. Spurs- the Spurs are a perennial contender. A great mix of veterans and young talent help them to win games. Could be a huge year for Kawai Leonard.
4. Grizzlies- this is a talented team from top to bottom. They have always been on the verge of becoming the team to beat and this year is no different.
5. Clippers- with Chris Paul at point guard this franchise now expects to be a contender. Added Lamar Odom who will be motivated to play being back in LA. Griffin will need to continue put up a double double every night for them to stay near the top of the conference.

Break out team-
Warriors- I’m jumping on the bandwagon early with this team. With Mark Jackson at the helm and a strong draft this team has the chance to shock the league. Might be a year early on this team.

Irrelevant teams
Mavericks- could be a tough year for them, don’t like the lineup they will be putting on the floor every night
Timberwolves- if this team was healthy I’d be on board 100%. But injuries to Rubio and Love will have them near the bottom of the standings
